The Election Should Have Been a Landslide "But"....
We can blame the election loss on COVID-19, ballot harvesting, mail-in ballots and more. But, in my judgment Donald Trump lost the election. Based solely on what he accomplished in nearly four years, he should have won by a landslide. However, his often ignoble tweets; his childish slandering, and outrageous name-calling; and his pompous boasting created a hate that far exceeded dislike and together, they led to his demise. The worst part may be that the Left dismantles all the good that was accomplished.
Well before Donald Trump entered the election fray, I wrote a chapter in “Executive Courage … called Picking Your Enemies. In it I offered that leaders should:
Never make an enemy unless it is time,
Whenever we intentionally make an enemy, we unintentionally make others, because the new enemy has friends, family, and followers,
While it is important not to make enemies external to the organization (in this case the party), it is also important to minimize enemies within one’s own organization (party) - yes, even if you are the boss. President Trump was famous for making enemies inside the party!
Someone wrote it succinctly that “ A man cannot be too careful in the choice of his enemies.”
King Solomon wrote that “…whoever spreads slander is a fool.” Proverbs 10:18
Here is the “But” of it. I am sure that his staff and family did their best to rein in the President’s ego and quell the self-aggrandizing rhetoric, however, he just could not accept criticism without returning fire in a public sordid and and often vulgar way.
His enemies got back at him three-fold, and the nation will suffer enormously in the years to come.
