Popularity-seeking conformists and more
While scanning through old notes in my Journal that never passed muster to be included in one of my books, I sometimes come across one or two observations that may be worth adding to my blog. Some of the Journal entries are quotes from others. Often I get comments back where someone else has had the same observation(s). Here are a few notes that aren’t included in any of my musings.
In 26 years in the military service and 22 years in education/business and even in my nearly 3 years of consulting, I have concluded that too often popularity-seeking, risk averse, conformists are often upwardly mobile!
“It seems to be the law of the land, inflexible and inexorable, that those who will not risk cannot win.” John Paul Jones
“We are living in a Babylonian culture.” Rev. Jentzen Franklin, in a sermon at Free Chapel, Gainesville, GA in 2016
In war, boldness, adaptability, creativity, sometimes ignoring the rules, risk taking, and ruthlessness, are essential for success. Robert Gates, former SecDef in his book titled, “Duty” (emphasis is mine)
To lead a successful business, error-free inaction must be more frowned upon than actions that risk failure. Paraphrased from Robert Lutz in “Icons and Idiots - Straight Talk on Leadership”
Finally as the Psalmist wrote in Chapter 19, verse 1: “The universe itself makes the existence of God too obvious to deny.” Yet, too many politicians and academics proclaim and teach Darwinism and human secularism as rational alternatives to the true Creator.
