Aphorisms #3
I was looking at my blog analytics today and noted that the two posts I did on aphorisms had more visits than most of my prose. So I am looking through my Journal and will post a few.
- There is a difference between leadership and showmanship. Showmanship seeks popularity and affirmation; leadership moves the needle to the right and seeks nothing more than respect.
- "...anyone who trusts in Him will never be put to shame." Romans 10-11. We have some politicians that are being put to shame these days.
- Criticism; we must absorb the criticism that we deserve and shed that which is mere gossip, jealousy, and sarcasm. Annoying and hurtful as it may be, criticism can lead us to dramatic improvement in areas that we may never have recognized as weaknesses. The hard part is deciding which is deserved and which is mere gossip, etc.
- It is bettter to hear the rebuke of the wise than for a man to hear the song of fools. Ecclesiastes 7:5
- "Who ought to be the leader is like asking who ought to sing tenor in the chorus - obviously it is the man who can sing tenor." Henry Ford
- "There is no history, only biography." Emerson I think he is talking about leadership!
Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his Commandments, for this is the whole duty of man" Eccleisiates (teacher) 12-13
