Wisdom for All

Vicker Frankl’s classic, “A Man’s Search for Meaning,” should be the first read for all. A survivor of 4 Nazi POW camps, Frankl ranks as the foremost philosopher for life and purveyor of wisdom.

The second read is James Allen’s 52 page classic titled “As a Man Thinketh.” Every athlete should read this classic, highlight it, and reread it until it is embedded in brain. Published first in 1902, here are a few highlights:
”He who has conquered doubt and fear has conquered failure.”

“Even if he fails again and again to accomplish his purpose, the ‘strength of character’ gained will be a measure of his success, and this will be the starting point for future power and triumph.”

“There is no physician like cheerful thought.”

“Vicissitudes (changes of fortune) occur from positive thinking.”

“Thought and character are one.”

“Ignoble and bestial is furthered by the harboring of grovelling thoughts.” (paraphrased)
