Walking Point in Business

One aspect of walking point is the willingness to do the unthinkable as opposed to the risk-averse behaviour we observe in so many modern day leaders.

But let’s be honest, walking point carries its own risk for the leader, which includes the risk of loss of reputation and job termination. Neither are lethal, but they are real and long term. The unthinkable risk usually revolves around the need to make unpopular decisions, the necessity to rattle the china by moving from stasis to change, and the courage and will to move the popular but marginal performers to the bench or early retirement.
