I love teachers, but a poorly led faculty is a pain in the keister.  As the backbone of a school or college, most  are indispensable, admired, appreciated, and accomplished in their field, but generally inadequate to the task of governance.

My counsel to heads of schools and colleges is find an exceptional leader as the chief academic officer.
