IQ and Leadership

Edward O. Wilson, entomologist, geneticist, and author edifies us that IQ scores only assess one element of intelligence. Per Wilson, IQ scores ignore human drive, creativity, mental stamina, leadership ability, analytical skills, and more. This is why so many with seemingly average intellectual capacity frequently outperform those from our best colleges and universities in life skills, business professions, the military, and other professions that require leadership and human understanding. More and more colleges and universities are downplaying SAT scores in admissions decisions. Additionally, we must realize that many with less apparent interest and intellect in the hard disciplines such as science and mathematics grew up with lesser educational opportunities, because they did not demonstrate the intellectual capacity and thus, were not selected for the best colleges and universities. Moreover, the curricula of the best colleges was not a good fit for many of these students that I refer to as “generalists”, whom after college seem to possess an admirable ability to lead and manage successfully and thus, often the lead the companies and corporations who hire the products of our top tier colleges and universities.
